29/10 Jonny Greenwood

     

         I like listen and make music a lot, and play instruments. of these I prefer to play guitar, because I got familiar with it. Is for that I usually admire some musicians, specially guitarist. Jonny Greenwood is the principal guitarist of a band called Radiohead, one of my favorite bands. But Jonny don´t play only guitar: he plays piano, several kinds of keyboards and synth, a strange instrument called ondes Martenot, bass, banjo... well, a lot of instruments. In spite of that, I don't admire him for the number of instruments that he plays, I admire him for his compositions, his form of play the instruments and make original and magnificent melodies or harmonies, and how he influenced the sound of Radiohead on his most celebrated albums.

     I know Jonny since I became to listen Radioheads music, about four or five years ago. Immediately I became fan of the band, and listened all his albums. The first thing that attract my attention was the sound of the Jonny Greenwood guitar, and then the forms of composition of the band. With the time, reading about the band on internet, I notice about the important influence of Jonny on the final result of the songs of the band, together with Tom Yorke, and I became a fan of his sound and form of play guitar.

         If I got to know him, I would ask him about his sound, how he reach this, with what. I would ask him for stay in the recordings of the new album of Radiohead until they finish it. I would be very happy with that.

22/10 Environmentalism

I haven't incorporated recycling in my life, never. I think that I should, but i have not dedicated yet. I think that is important to be more aware with the environment, and try to do things for that. I have not joined to any eco-organizations, because I have not informed about the values and practices that it implies. Something that I would to be to help the planet is do not contribute to the contamination. I would not like to buy a car, for example, or buy an electric car. Meanwhile I try to use recyclable things, for not contribute to make unnecessary rubbish.

In Santiago seems that nobody, or not much people, is worry about the environment, including me. The streets are a lot of time with rubbish and the people dirty constantly. The government doesn’t make it better. To see a real change, I think that we need to take radical decisions, like discontinue the use of combustible, in favor of renewable energy, and begin to envelope "green" technology. Also provide accessible forms to recycle and promote the use of recyclable things. Protect the green areas in the cities and in the world would be an important point to preserve the environment.

In conclusion we are too far to have an aware society about the environment, but inevitably we will be taken by force to take care of the world, when the impact of human contamination becomes irreversible.

08/10 Free: Listen music

One of the things that I spend more time in the day is listen music. I like a lot of styles an genres of music, but I have some preferences: I'm a fanatic of alternative rock, and all of this subgenres. This kind of music was principally enveloped on 90' decade, and the most important bands had their creative and popularity peak in these years. It was a period characterize for a resistance against the mainstream music enveloped in the past years, that was focus in be popular and commercial. The idea of alternative rock was create a music with no conventional elements, with unusual structures and new sounds, for ignore the forms of mainstream music, that was the most diffused.  Several genres and styles of music was developed for this, like grunge, shoegaze or the inclusion of noise.  I like All of these.

Definitely, that I search in this music, and in the music in general, is new possibilities to think music. I like listen new or unexpected things, but always thinking about the final result, in how the musician mixed the sounds to make and get a particular esthetic. It wasn't always like that. When I was a child, I became to listen music with groups of classical and popular rock of the 60' and 70' decades. I usually listened bands like The Beatles, Rolling Stones or Led Zeppelin, bands that was very popular and a reference for the mainstream music. I was very closed minded, but with the passing of time, I opened my eyes and became to listen other kinds of music. Now I'm always listen new groups and searching new sounds.

01/10 About a present

It was very easy to me choose a present that was important to me. About near four years ago, my father gave to me my first electric guitar. Well, it wasn’t really my first ever, because I have had another electric guitar, that was given by my aunt in very poor conditions, and that was fixed up by me. This first guitar really sucks; it was shabby, uncomfortable, and sounded bad. I couldn't do many things with it, but with the new guitar I could play more time and in better conditions, more comfortable and with a sound that was chosen by me. I remember the day that I went to buy the guitar with my father and with a friend. I tried many different guitars, with different sounds and systems, in different prices and forms, and with different amplifiers. I spent the whole morning in the store. At the end of the day, I had to choose a guitar that had the best sound in an accessible price, because the budget wasn't much. Finally, I chose my actual, and although isn't very expensive, it has a sound that liked me for a very long time. Now, I play with this guitar always that I can, I play it in many opportunities with bands and it had served me to discover new sounds possibilities. I have so many memories with it, memories that, I hope, keep rising.

24/09 Fiestas Patrias

 Well, what make chileans chileans? I suppose that the particular traditions of the people. I think that it will change if we talk about the south or northern of Chile, but the thing that can agglomerate all the people is the patriotic feeling, the identification with the territory and the assimilation of the state form of organization and government. If anyone can't do this (like me), i think that it could be called chilean only for living  in a territory called Chile. About the habits, it seems that we do a several things that are particular of september 18, like dance cueca, eat typical foods, or playing rayuela, things that maybe are more typical of the central-south zone of Chile, of a particular period of his history. The rayuela seems a funny game, but i don't know how it plays. The same thing happens me with volantín and trompo. I'm not really interested in that traditional activities. About rodeo, i think that is boring and unnecessary, i mean,  chase a cow to corral it with horses it's an absurd act of violence, only for the object to entertain people.

I normally celebrate Fiestas Patrias in family, with my grandmother and uncles, aunts, cousins, etc. Usually we have a dinner with typical foods and some of they dance cueca. the idea is share a good familiar moment. In this year i didn't celebrated, although my family did. I had planning to do some important things that i did't want to postergate. Fiestas patrias are not very important to me, that's why  i could take me apart of this. For the same reason i can't remember something like "the best Fiestas Patrias that i ever have". I suppose that i only hope to stay with my family and talk a little, at least, the better Fiestas Patrias have been like that.

10/09 September 11th

Tomorrow, September 11th, will be a relevant day in the history of Chile. That day, in 1973, has place a military coup against the socialist government of Salvador Allende, at the head of Augusto Pinochet. Since then, and for 17 years, people in Chile resist a cruel dictatorship that violated their human rights. Actually, is usual that, in September 11th, people protest and remember the terrible events happen in this period, including young people that wasn't born yet when the dictatorship finish. Many people criticise them and devalue their protests, but i think that young people, and all of people, has the right  to give their opinion about the history, and revindicate practices that are still coerced, like the same protest. In no case i think that this is a outdated topic, because the reflection about the history is very important to comprehend our context and make social changes.

I think that the state of Chile has dealt of a very poor manner with the people responsible of crimes against the human rights. Sometimes valuable information to the victims is occulted by the responsible militarist, and the guilty militarist prisoners are usually in very comfort jails, prepared to military convicts. This is still a motive of protest.

Finally, i feel is correct that the people (young or older), protest for their beliefs about the history and their beliefs of how it affect us in the actuality, in the traditions, the state bureaucracy and  the repressive police force, etc..., but i think that these protest must be after of learn sufficiently, and sustained in that learning.

03/09 Talking about places

Well, i almost never go to visit places, i don´t like so much. Talking about places in de world, i never had visit places out of Chile, because in my family don´t have much money to travel.  even though Santiago (the city where i live) don´t have big atractives and it will be tedious, i feel accustomed.

If i would have to choose any place to go, i wouldn't choose a place in another countries. I would prefer to go to south of Chile, specifically to Valdivia. The reasons are simple: is a city where rains frecuently, where you usually need to stay at home with a good heating, reading a book or talking with somebody kind. Also i like the vegetation, the forests nearly,  the Calle-Calle river, the fresh air and the serenity of the cities less populated.

I want to know how the people lives in this kinds of citys, the typical places that the natives used to visit. I want to see the river and walk througth the principal streets. Iwant to go tho te forest nearly and enjoy the enviroment, and,  of course, i want to stay at home, peacefull.

I alwais like to live in a city like Valdivia, find a job or to study on something interesting or better, dedicate to my hobbies. My principal desire in a city like that is get away of santiago, al live my life of a more serene way. Here, a image of the place.
